Motorola to Unveil Mystery Device this Feb. 25; Soak Tests for Moto X2 Ongoing

Motorola recently stirred the public's attention when they announced through their media invite that they have something big coming out this Feb. 25. The event, which will take place this Wednesday, will see the tech company making "an exciting announcement."

The full press invite reads (via 9to5google.com):

"Motorola is making an exciting announcement next week and wants you to be in the front row. The best part? You get to choose where and when you'd like to experience it. Everything you need fits inside one box, which we will deliver to your doorstep on Wednesday."

As of this publication date, no information has been revealed yet about what's in the mystery box.

But analyzing the details further, Digital Trends speculate that it might be "something to do with immersive entertainment and augmented reality" given the "front row" and "where and when you'd like to experience it" statement suggested.

However, a report from GSMArena.com indicated that the Moto G maker may be presenting the successor to their hot-selling Moto 360, "perhaps a new smartphone," or probably a reiteration of their flagship phone, the Moto X, which launched last year for $200.

Reports also indicated that following Lenovo's acquisition to the company, Motorola would be transferring their headquarters back to China.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena wrote that Motorola is currently in the process of sending Soak Test invites to Verizon customers who owned Moto X second generation smartphones.

The build, which is no doubt the latest Android 5.0, requires users to register with the Motorola Feedback Network.

AT&T second-gen Moto X handlers are also getting Soak test invites.
