A device that could be the rumored Motorola X Phone was spotted running on Sprint's network this week.
This smartphone was photographed and features the codename Motorola XT1056. This same device was also recently spotted at the FCC. The organization has revealed similar handsets such as the XT1055, the XT1060, and the XT1058 which belong to other major U.S. carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and U.S. Cellular. They could all be variants of the new X Phone.
The Motorola X Phone release date could be set for August 1 as the company launched a new marketing campaign, which hints at this day.
These new ads feature the company announcing a major change in overall branding and hint at August 1 being a special day where a new Motorola phone could be introduced. Some of them feature the words "Goodbye Moto" and other ad images feature text that sums up the company's accomplishments and explains its imminent transformation.
"We're not good at goodbyes. No one is. They're hard. And sad. But the time has come. After nearly a century of innovation, we must say farewell. Farewell to the first handheld cell phone. To the Razr. To the game snake. Farewell to the Motorola that has shaped today," read the message in the ad.
"It's time to start building tomorrow. Change is afoot. New faces. New ideas. New technologies. The Motorola that returns will not be the company you once knew. But we have some work to do," they continued. "So until we're ready, we're going away. No new ads or tweets. No site updates. Just silence until we begin the next chapter."
Other images have a date on them 8/1/13, that could be this special rebirth day for Motorola where they will release the long rumored and recently confirmed X Phone. Some of these pictures feature the numbers 37 13 which could possibly be a countdown until August 1 as these ads were published on June 23, which is around 38 days before that date. However, that seems like a bit of a stretch. A June 11 date is also present which makes things even more confusing.
