'Mr. Robot' News, Update: Finale of Hit Hacker Drama Aired This Week

The hotly-anticipated finale of USA Network's hit hacker drama TV series "Mr. Robot" finally aired this week.

For those who missed it, the season ender was originally set to broadcast last Wednesday, August 26, but the schedule was postponed in line with the tragic Virginia shooting incident where two journalists were killed on live television.

The network posted on their website an announcement for the delay of the episode while also including their message of sympathies to the families of the victims.

"Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight's episode," USA Network said in a statement. "Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time."

It was unclear at first why the finale was postponed but speculations emerged that suggested that the episode in question may contain a scene that similarly portrays the horrific real-life murder of WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward.

According to CNN.com, the two media personnel were killed by a former WDBJ-TV employee Bryce Williams. The latter had worked with Parker and Ward in the past before getting fired two years ago.

As it turned out, there was good reason to delay the finale as one of the scenes was very similar to the Virginia shooting incident. Airing it on the week it was originally scheduled to be aired would have been a questionable decision so it was a good call to delay it.

"Zero Day" also placed more focus on Elliot's emotional journey instead of the expected final showdown between fSociety and Evil Corp. The promo video released before the finale gave viewers a peek at the deeply-troubled Elliot.

"What did I do?" he said while Mr. Robot, who is now revealed to be a figment of his imagination, seems to be enjoying the upcoming downfall of the oppressing corporate behemoth. There were also explosive scenes featuring people going out into the streets wearing the recognizable fSociety masks .

The finale aired last Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 10/9c on USA.
