'Mulan' Live Adaption Premiere Date: Nov. 2, 2018
The live-action movie adaptation of Disney's "Mulan" will be different from the other, more musically inclined Disney classic, and will place emphasis on martial arts over music, according to its director. "Mulan" is currently set to premiere on Nov. 2, 2018.
After box-office hit "Beauty and the Beast," Disney is wasting no time and is moving on to the next modern live movie remake, this time to bring "Mulan" once again to the big screen. Director Niki Caro revealed that the adaptation will be making a big departure from the original, musically framed animated feature to one that will not have singing parts, according to Cinema Blend.
Caro expanded on the direction that the movie's production team is planning to take: "Yes, from what I understand, no songs right now, much to the horror of my children." The new "Mulan" will not be a musical, and in place of the usual songs, the 2018 remake will be a "girly martial arts epic" according to the director.

In an interview with Screen Crush, the "Mulan" director explained her vision for the remake of the 1998 "Mulan," and how it will separate itself from Disney's earlier live action remakes. "I haven't started yet so I can't give you any real detail. But the budget and the location and the story is offering such scope to me for incredible, muscular piece of girly martial arts extravaganza in China. And I can't wait," said Caro, getting excited about the action-oriented direction that the reboot will take.
"I've got my little girl, she's nine," the director said. "We're going to start learning mixed martial arts in preparation," added Caro, revealing how even the movie director will be getting hands-on with the action scenes for the upcoming movie. The 2018 remake for "Mulan" is currently scheduled for release in theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.
