Fans of the 1970s icon Don Cornelius will surely mourn the loss of the founder and former host of Soul Train, but the pop world is also in mourning as the Backstreet Boys suffer an untimely death.

It has been reported that Cornelius was found dead in his Sherman Oaks, Calif., home this morning, in what law enforcement sources are saying looks like an apparent suicide.

In addition to this loss, the Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter mourns the death of his younger sister Leslie Carter. Carter, who was 25 years old, was found dead early Tuesday in upstate New York. The cause of her death has not been disclosed as of yet.

Although her career never reached the peak of her brothers Aaron and Nick, she was also a budding singer, who recorded her first album for Dream Records in 1999 but it was never released.

Making the first "Shrek" soundtrack with her song "Like Wow," in 2001, Carter continued to pursue her music career and may perhaps best be remembered for her appearances in the E! reality show "House of Carters."

Carter leaves behind her husband, Mike, and their daughter Alyssa Jane Aaron who was born last April.

Music fans may still have fresh wounds from the recent passing of famed entertainer Etta James who may be best remembered for her classic rendition of "At Last." James, who died battling illness, like Cornelius, was an iconic figure in the music industry.
