My Answer: Jesus' Methods Would be Up-To-Date Today

Q: If Jesus were living on earth today instead of 2,000 years ago, what do you think He’d do differently? The world has changed a lot in the last 2,000 years, and I wonder how He would adapt His message to our times. — Mrs. R.McC.

A: If Jesus were living on the earth today, I have no doubt that His methods would be just as up-to-date as possible. Newspapers, magazines, television, the Internet, satellites — I think He would use them all to get across His message. The Bible says we should “make the most of every opportunity” to spread the Gospel (Colossians 4:5).

But Jesus’ message would not change! Yes, the world has changed greatly in the last 2,000 years — but the human heart has not changed, and we still need to be forgiven of our sins and be reconciled to God. In spite of our education and our technological advances, we still need God, and we still need the new life that only Christ can give us. The Gospel is just as relevant today as it was after Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Remember, Jesus didn’t come into the world to give us some good advice; He came into the world to save us from our sins. The Bible says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). Have you opened your heart and life to Him? If not I urge you to do so today, for nothing is more important — or more life-changing.

As a footnote, never forget that while Jesus no longer walks on this earth, He is still alive in heaven, and He is still present with us by His Spirit. And He wants to use us to reach out to others with the good news of His forgiveness and grace.
