A DEA agent will die during the hunt for Pablo Escobar.

"Narcos" Season 2 is set to return on Netflix come September 2. Several speculations have been going around prior to the season premiere—the latest of which are that the season will have a fast-tracked timeline, and that a DEA agent will die in the mission to capture Pablo Escobar.

On a lighter note, a mobile game based on the Netflix series called Narcos: Cartel Wars is currently being developed. It is set to be released soon.

The first season of "Narcos" ended with Escobar's surrender to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agent Steve Murphy. Everybody expected that Escobar will not easily accept being in jail and will have something up his sleeves. Even Agent Murphy surely did not expect his stay in prison, prior to escaping, to be a short one.

"Narcos" Season 2 will see a bolder and more audacious Pablo Escobar, according to some reports. This could only translate into a more action-packed new season with more violence, firepower, and deaths. Already, several spoilers say that another DEA Agent, Javier Pena, will die during a face-off with Escobar.

This speculation surfaced because of the "Narcos" 2 trailer which was released in July. The last moments of said trailer showed Pena being held at gunpoint by Escobar himself. Given Escobar's violent tendencies and his desperation that time, it is not farfetched that Pena indeed will meet his death in the upcoming season.

Faster pacing

Aside from more action, it was likewise reported that "Narcos" Season 2 will be
fast tracked a bit. Last season was often criticized for being slow-paced. To make the pacing faster, some aspects of Escobar's life might be skipped or just glossed over. The upcoming season will focus more on the DEA's hunt for the former drug lord from Colombia after his escape from prison. It will likely conclude with his death.

Controversial death

Pablo Escobar's death is highly controversial because of conflicting reports surrounding it. Some believe that he was killed by his own bullet, while others say he was slain by the people hunting him down. There are still others who believe that it was a member of the vigilante group "Los Pepes" that did him in. Which among these theories Netflix will chose to depict in "Narcos" 2 is yet to be seen.

Mobile game based on the series

Gaumont Television and FTX Games are said to be working on a mobile game based on the TV series. Narcos: Cartel Wars will give its players an inside look into the drug wars and how drug lords climb the hierarchy in the world of drugs.
