NASCAR News 2015: Matt Kenseth Summoned for a Meeting before Homestead Return

Professional racecar driver Matt Kenseth's two-race suspension has ended, but before he returns to the Sprint Cup final on Sunday, he was summoned by NASCAR for a meeting for the purpose of clearing any remaining issues.

Kenseth met with NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France before the focus shifts to Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday, where four remaining drivers will compete for the ultimate Sprint Cup Championship title. Chief Communications Officer Brett Jewkes revealed the information via Associated Press.

The Joe Gibbs Racing professional driver and France met in Charlotte, North Carolina, which later resulted to France having been satisfied with the outcome of the conversation.

To recall, Kenseth became a subject of ridicule and eventually was suspended by NASCAR for the previous two races prior to the finale after his involvement in an on-track incident with Joey Logano during the race at Martinsville Speedway. The suspension was upheld even after appeals from Kenseth, and NASCAR was right to hand it down to Kenseth who appeared to have directly caused the wreck of Logano's car, who at that point was leading the race for the opener of the Eliminator Round.

Observers later figured out that Kenseth may have been thinking about getting even with Logano with regard to an earlier incident involving the two. But Kenseth's unsportsmanlike act may have been the costlier one considering that it cost Logano a good position to qualify for the title race.

The two drivers, though, have had issues with each other previously, but their beef came into a boiling point in Martinsville when about 10 laps have passed in the race, Kenseth directed a hit on Logano's car, causing it to hit the wall. Anyway, both have already been eliminated in the championship; Logano's chances ended at the Phoenix International Raceway, while Kenseth was already eliminated one week before the race in Martinsville.
