Nathan Followhill of the Kings of Leon has become a father for the first time on Wednesday.

The drummer and his wife Jessie Baylin welcomed daughter Violet Marlowe on Dec. 26 in Nashville, Tennessee, his rep told Us Weekly. Violet is the first child for the couple.

"I can proudly announced the birth of my sweet angel Violet Marlowe Followill," the drummer posted to Twitter on Thursday. "My heart has been stollen (sic) and it feels so good."

Weighting seven pounds and 13 ounces, the baby girl arrived at 4:01 p.m., according to the magazine.

The child is the latest to join the Followill clan. Baby Violet will join older cousin Dixie Pearl Followill, the daughter of Nathan's brother and Kings of Leon vocalist, Caleb.

The Kings of Leon are best known for their songs "Sex on Fire" and "Use Somebody." The group originated in Albion, Oklahoma and formed in Nashville, Tenn. in 1999. The band consists of brothers Jared, Nathan, and Caleb Followill, as well as their cousin Matthew Followill.

The three Followill brothers were raised in a Pentecostal household in Oklahoma. Their father, Ivan Leon, is a United Pentecostal Church preacher, while their mother, Betty-Ann, is a worship leader. Following their parents' divorce, the band had a fall out with faith and embarked on a new lifestyle while pursuing a career in music.

Kings of Leons released a "rockumentary" in 2011 highlighting their road to success. "Talihina Sky: The True Story of Kings of Leon" was featured during the Tribeca Film Festival the same year.

The film revealed the Followill brothers (and cousin) during their travels across the South, where much of their childhood was spent.

Today, the band admits that their life is radically different from their youth, but there are still many remnants of their religious upbringing that affect who they are.

Meanwhile, the group's bass guitarist Jared Followill announced his engagement to girlfriend Martha Patterson earlier this year. Although the couple had only dated a few months, the 25-year-old musician proposed to Patterson, an aspiring model, with a four-carat cushion-cut diamond ring in April, according to E! News.
