Nathan Gaddis & Jason Barton Lead in Godspell Production

Starting March 18th until the 20th, the People's Church in Franklin, Tennessee, will be presenting a production of Godspell. This musical was written by John-Michael Tebelak based on the gospel according to Saint Matthew. It has been performed over 2,600 times on and off Broadway since the 1970's. Originally, the score was composed by Stephen Schwartz, but this production will feature contemporary music arranged by Alex Lacamoire.

"The People's Church wants to reach out to the community," says Kelly Garner, musical director for the production, "and what better way than through music."

Jason Barton will be playing the role of Jesus. He has performed in such musicals as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, where he played Joseph and West Side Story, where he played Tony. He moved to Nashville, from Louisiana six years ago to pursue a career in music. Jason has worked as a studio musician, been a member of Essential Records' TRUEvibe, toured with Destiny's Child, been on MTV's Makin' the Video, and received a Grammy award nomination. Jason and his wife Jennifer, Godspell's choreographer, are expecting their first child this summer.
