"I begged them to put me on the cover," said Durant. "I really think nobody plays the game as much as I do. I wanted to be a part of it."

Durant also revealed which game mode he loves in the upcoming basketball game simulator.

"I enjoy playing the myPlayer mode. Taking your guy through a season, getting drafted ... I feel that's how it is as a real NBA player. It's about the journey," he said.

Durant will be replacing his buddy and rival Lebron James on this year's cover.

The game is set to launch on Oct. 7 in North America and on Oct. 10 globally. The last installment sold over 5 million copies and was wdiely praised as one of the best basketball video games ever.
