Prelude Video

The Prelude is a pre-order bonus which allows you to play through the college level with a player you created. It's an actual game, a demo-version of sorts, tied to NBA 2K17, and is available on September 9, 11 days before the actual September 20 release.

If you play the Prelude, then your player's performance and progress will be carried over to the actual NBA 2K17 MyCareer mode; offering a great head start. According to Polygon, 10 college schools will be featured in the Prelude.

These teams are Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Connecticut Huskies, Oklahoma Sooners, Michigan State Spartans, Louisville Cardinals, Illinois Fighting Illini, Kansas Jayhawks, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Georgetown Hoyas, and Arizona Wildcats.

Friction

The NBA 2K17 preview for the game, called Friction, partly named after the song by Imagine Dragons playing on the background, reveals better graphics, a more realistic on-court environment, and so much more.

Pre-game introductions, for one, are much improved. The video shows intros that are commonly found before games in actual NBA games, including floor projections, pre-practice warm-ups, and more. Player reactions to fouls, individualized player gestures, and even facial expressions seem to have an upgrade as well.

Uproxx added that one of NBA 2K17's biggest upgrade is giving you the ability to control how players finish going to the basket. In previous 2K's animations are packaged, but now, with joy stick moves, you can instinctively choose to finish on either side with either hand.
