'NBA 2K18' News: Publisher Rolls Out Emergency Patch Just a Few Hours After Pre-Order Release

As one of the most highly anticipated sports simulation video game, "NBA 2K18" was facing high expectations as it neared the release date. Considering it only just hit the stands on Sept. 19, fans did not think that they would experience a serious bug anytime soon.

Unfortunately, Xbox One users were left frustrated just a few hours after they were finally able to experience the game. Recent reports have revealed that game publisher 2K Sports has released an emergency patch to fix the problems.

The bug that plagued "NBA 2K18" caused players to lose their progress in the MyCareer mode. Although it only affected Xbox One users, they still lost all the saved data including items and virtual currency. This led to an uproar from the fans as they took to reaching out to the developers and updating the community through the NBA 2K subreddit.

The overwhelming reaction of the fans prompted a response from 2K Sports, who immediately went to work to develop a patch that was released a few hours after they acknowledged the issue. The report on the serious bug began surfacing shortly after the game was released for those who pre-ordered "NBA 2K18." Meanwhile, the rest of the gaming community will have to go through a few hours of gameplay before determining if the patch that was released did its job.

Although it did affect players who own a different console, the patch was also released for PlayStation 4 to make sure that they do not experience the frustration of the Xbox One gamers.

Full details on what comprises the patch have yet to be released, but fans are expecting 2K Sports to post a detailed breakdown in the next few days. "NBA 2K18" is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.
