'NBA 2K18' Simulation Predicts This Season's NBA Champions, Individual Winners

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has just kicked-off its 2017–2018 Regular Season and fans and analysts already have their early predictions as to who will emerge as winners. EA's popular basketball video game also chimed in by giving out its forecast for the year.

Game developer 2K Sports published on Facebook the results of its simulation of the brand new season, which had the Golden State Warriors successfully defending their championship. Using the MyLEAGUE mode, "NBA 2K18" also predicted the players who will take home some of the individual awards by the end of the season.

The game predicted that the Warriors will face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals and will emerge with a 4–1 series win. Gamespot reported that the simulation had Boston winning only Game 4 of the Finals by two points behind Kyrie Irving's triple-double output.

In the simulation, with the Warriors' victory, head coach Steve Kerr took home the Coach of the Year award. Kevin Durant again took home the Finals MVP trophy. Boston's trip to the Finals in the said simulation, however, did not come with much ease as they had to face LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two teams were predicted to battle it out in seven grueling games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Meanwhile, the simulation also had Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook winning the MVP title again after teaming up with new recruits Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. Westbrook averaged 26.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 8.8 assists to secure his second MVP award in the game predictions.

Surprisingly, Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers is touted to bag Rookie of the Year Honors after possibly edging out Lonzo Ball of the Los Angeles Lakers, who is an early favorite to win the award. Simmons averaged 16.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in "NBA 2K18's" prediction.

The latest patch for "NBA 2K18" has also been released earlier this week, adding some new content and numerous bug fixes. Some of the notable changes include the Classic Edition uniforms for the Lakers, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Charlotte Hornets, and the Phoenix Suns. The patch also added some new signature shoes and improvements on the CAP/Lab user interface, among others.

"NBA 2K18" is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
