Orlando Magic NBA News, Rumors 2015: Coach Jacque Vaughn Fired

Orlando Magic head coach Jacque Vaughn was fired Thursday after working with the team for two-and-a-half seasons.

The move is a result from the team suffering a 10-game losing streak putting them "near the bottom" of the Eastern Conference at 15-37.

Speaking during the news conference, General Manager Rob Hennigan announced Asst. Coach James Borrego as Interim Coach.

"We went into this season wanting to see some progress," Hennigan told reporters. "We wanted to see growth. We just didn't feel like we were seeing the type of growth we wanted to see. We're finding ourselves in sort of a rut ... but it's a road bump, not a roadblock."

"There's never an ideal time to make a change of this magnitude. As the season progressed, we just felt like a change needed to be made and this was the time to do it. Plain and simple," added the GM. "We were trying to get our hands around the inconsistency we were seeing on the floor. There's a lot of reasons for that. Jacque's not the only reason for that."

Jacque released a statement addressing the change of coaching for the Magic.

"I would like to thank Mr. DeVos and Family for the opportunity of representing the Orlando Magic as Head Coach. I am a stronger and wiser man and coach because of the opportunity. I look forward to seeing this group continue to grow. God bless, good luck."

Yahoo! Sports meanwhile speculated that Scott Skiles, who has been with Orlando from 1989 to 1994, could be a potential candidate as a long-term replacement.
