NBA News 2015: Russell Westbrook Wins 2015 NBA All-Star Game MVP Title

Oklahoma Thunder's Russell Westbrook exploded during the 2015 NBA All-Star Game in Madison Square Garden on Sunday.

Just one shy away from Wilt Chamberlain's All-Star Game 42 point's record in 1962 and one higher than Michael Jordan's 1988 score of 40 points, the OKC point guard spearheaded the Western Conference 163-158 victory against the East Conference with 41 points.

"He literally soared high above other All-Stars, throwing down ridiculous dunks and nearly hitting his head on the backboard on a thunderous one-handed alley-oop finish," ESPN reported.

His spectacular display of athleticism that night expectedly earned him the MVP award trophy presented by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

LeBron James, who played for the East and scored with 30 points shares the same admiration with Westbrook's "unbelievable talent."

"I think Westbrook came for it from the start," said the Cavaliers forward. "He's an unbelievable talent in our league. His motor, his athleticism, his demeanor about how he approaches the game, it's all great."

West teammate Steph Curry spoke in the same vein.

"It was a spectacular show of athleticism," the Golden State Warriors point guard said. "And he kind of got a little hot in the second quarter. He showed a lot."

"The whole experience is amazing," Westbrook said. "I was definitely excited to come and enjoy my weekend here in New York, especially with Fashion Week going as well. I was able to do a lot of other things as well."

"And just the game today, I was definitely excited. I'm happy we won," the 26-year-old NBA star added. "And definitely blessed to have the MVP."

As for being in the list with Chamberlain and Jordan, the basketballer said: "It's definitely an honor to be grouped with those two guys."
