NBA Trade News 2016: Kevin Love Going To the Cavs? Celtics, Raptors Negotiating For David Lee

The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors are reportedly working on a deal to make way for big man David Lee.

In a report by Michael Hoad for SportsNet.ca, the Celtics are looking to release Lee, while the Raptors are making the necessary adjustments to make space for him. The report adds that the Celtics currently does not have space for Lee in the rotation, mainly due to the team's abundance of big men.

"Lee's $15.4-million contract would be tough to work out for Toronto as it would likely mean Terrence Ross and Patrick Patterson would be heading the other way," an excerpt of Hoad's report reads.

An almost 11-year NBA veteran, the 32-year-old professional basketball player was a first round draft pick by the New York Knicks in 2005. He stayed with the team for five years, before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

In July 2010, the Golden State Warriors signed him, in a trade involving three other players: Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf, and Kelenna Azubuike, along with a future second round draft pick. After spending another five years with the Warriors, Lee was eventually traded to the Celtics for Chris Babb and Gerald Wallace.

For the current season, Lee has played in 30 games so far and is averaging 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks, through 15.7 minutes of playing time per game.

Meanwhile, reports have surfaced that Kevin Love has already been traded by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to Matt Moore for CBS Sports, ESPN NBA writer Brian Windhorst had tweeted that members of the Cavaliers had speculated that one of their big men had already been released from the team.

The report adds that the reason behind the team's intent to release Love is his inability to work with point guard Kyrie Irving.

Love is currently putting up 15.7 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.5 blocks, through 32.3 minutes of playing time per game.

However, a recent ESPN report by the same writer (Windhorst) said that according to the Cavs general manager, David Griffin, the team was not looking to trade Love anytime soon.
