NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Knicks Interested In Acquiring Four New Players

The New York Knicks are looking to beef up their line-up through the possible acquisition of four new players.

In a report by Danny Cox for the Inquisitr, the Knicks are eyeing to acquire the services of the Los Angeles Clippers' Jamal Crawford, the Detroit Pistons' Brandon Jennings, the Minnesota Timberwolves' Kevin Martin, and the Houston Rockets' Ty Lawson.

These probable signings are on top of the Knicks' intent to have Houston Rockets' big man Dwight Howard as part of their team as well.

The same report adds that Crawford's expiring contract could be one of the reasons for the Knicks to sign the 35-year-old Clippers shooting guard.

Journalist Michael Scotto confirmed this through a tweet he posted in early December.

"Clippers are gauging trade interest around the league on Jamal Crawford, league sources tell Sheridan Hoops. He was shopped this summer too," Scotto wrote.

Ty Lawson, on the other hand, is seen to be more of a liability than an asset, mainly because of his off-court misdemeanors. Since 2012, the 28-year-old professional basketball player has been involved in a number of arrests for traffic violations, DUI cases, and domestic violence.

According to Cox, while Lawson is on the Rockets' trading block, other teams may opt to be more cautious in signing him.

Point guard Brandon Jennings has drawn the interest of the Knicks as early as December. In a report by Aaron McMann for MLive.com, the 26-year-old player is a viable candidate to be signed, particularly with his contract expiring and the fact that he is merely a back up for young gun Reggie Jackson. However, Detroit's head coach and president for basketball operations Stan Van Gundy says he plans to keep Jennings in his roster.

Shooting guard Kevin Martin has been on the Wolves' trading block since mid-December.

In a report by NBA.com, Minnesota is said to be freeing up space to make way for their younger players, and Martin, unfortunately, would be their sacrificial lamb.
