A Greensboro police spokesman stated that police officers had been dispatched to the university, but have yet to confirm if the person of interest was in fact armed.

Authorities were told of the situation after a concerned student called police who then told them several students had seen the suspicious person walking around campus.

Several schools in the area were also placed on lockdown including Middle College at A&T and the STEM Early College, according to a Guilford County School official.

As a precaution, Guilford County School also put Washington Elementary and Aycock Elementary on lockdown. GCS revealed that all students and staff are inside both buildings.
