NCC Sponsors Christmas Eve Broadcast Service on ABC-TV
The National Council of Churches USA has announced sponsorship of a special Christmas Eve church service in Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip on Dec. 25.
The National Council of Churches USA has announced sponsorship of a special Christmas Eve church service in Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip on Dec. 25. The service will be broadcasted on ABC's large television network of more than 220 affiliates at 1:30 AM EST.
The broadcast special is produced annually by the Episcopal Media Center, which is an independent nonprofit organization that produces broadcast programming for radio and television for Christian education in congregations and homes. This year, under the Rev Canon Louis C. Schueddig, the service will be a joyful shout to God with a sermon titled, "How Far Is It To Bethlehem."
The Bishop J. Neil Alexander of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta will lead the service, while the Very Rev. Samuel G. Candler, the dean of the cathedral will officiate for the Holy Communion. Music will be provided by the Peachtree Brass and the Cathedral Choir performing Christmas classics.
