"Guest-starring on #NCIS this fall. Had a great time with Mark Harmon, @m_weatherly & @emilywickersham and even got to take over Gibbs desk," Gonzalez captioned the photo.

Thomas Dimitroff, Falcons general manager, expressed his thoughts about Gonzalez's turn of career saying, "I believe Tony Gonzalez has retired and he'll have a fantastic career in the media business."

Meanwhile, an insider from showrunner Gary Glasberg's team has spoken with TVLine regarding a new woman that character Tony DiNozzo will meet in the forthcoming season.

In the report, it was purported that the senior field agent will be acquainted with the new character via a case and that the two will have a "completely different" chemistry compared to what he shared with Cote de Pablo's Ziva.

Glasberg also admitted the difficulty encountered finding the right actor to portray the role.

"The trick will be casting somebody where the chemistry [with Michael] is there, but we're excited about the opportunity … We'll give it a shot and see what we can do," Glasberg said.

'NCIS' season 12 will premiere on Sept. 23 on CBS, with a rumored episode title "20 clicks," for the first and "Kill the Messenger" for the second.
