'NCIS': DiNozzo to Get New Love Interest, Cote de Pablo Talks Ziva's Possible Return

Fans of NCIS were sad to see Cote de Pablo leave the series as her character, Ziva, is one of the most interesting characters on the show, not to mention the ongoing romance that Ziva has with Agent DiNozzo.

Now, after one and a half years after the news first broke that de Pablo was leaving NCIS, the actress answered many questions about Ziva's exit from the show and whether she would be returning to the CBS drama in future episodes.

De Pablo talked about her run on "NCIS" at the panel interview at the Television Critics Association press tour where the actress was promoting the upcoming CBS miniseries "The Dovekeepers." She said that she felt like Ziva's exit felt a bit rushed, but she was happy with her final scene with Michael Weatherly's DiNozzo, wherein the two kissed goodbye on an airport tarmac.

"I felt it was rushed. I like a little kind of closure," said de Pablo. "I think, all in all, I could not be more blessed, because I got to be with my love, Michael. And, any time you have scenes with Michael and I together, there's going to be a spark and there's going to be real honesty. For that, I am forever grateful because there was a sense of conclusion as far as what they felt for each other."

As for the possibility of Ziva appearing in future "NCIS" episodes, the actress said, "I think the fact that they never killed the character off is very telling. Under the right circumstances, I think it could definitely be explored."

Meanwhile, Tony DiNozzo won't be left pining for Ziva forever as he is about to get a new love interest on "NCIS." Tony's new girl will be played by Marisol Nichols, and fans will remember her turn as ATF Special Agent Zoe Keates during the show's Halloween episode last October.

"NCIS" airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
