'NCIS: LA' Cast News, Update: Barrett Foa's Eric Beale to Start Training With A Weapon in Season 7

Barrett Foa, who plays the tech wizard Eric Beale, is about to get a little more dangerous when CBS' hit crime-fighting drama TV series "NCIS: LA" returns for its 7th season.

The computer whiz will be given the chance to expand his skills in other fields including weapon handling.

"Hetty, Linda Hunt's character, has approved my character to start training with a weapon. What? That's a terrible idea," Foa told CBS. "Hijinks will ensue."

And the person who will be there to stand behind him at the firing range is none other than one of the show's best handlers.

"You know who's going to teach me? LL Cool J," the actor further said. "I'm excited. We're going to get some one-on-one training with Sam Hanna and Eric Beale."

This new development means that the next time fans will see Eric in the field, he would now be more than capable to protect himself instead of depending on Callen (Chris O'Donnell), Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and the rest of the gun-toting team.

Speaking of Deeks, an earlier casting report said that Pamela Reed is set to portray the enigmatic role of Marty's mom.

The actress will guest star in the second episode of Season 7 during which she will help shed light on the LAPD detective's past and reveal some of the reasons behind Deeks' choices and decisions.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Olsen admitted that the appearance of Marty's mother will be a "really interesting reflection on why Deeks chose to work for Hetty and why he fell in love with Kensi."

Find out more of these exciting developments when "NCIS: LA" Season 7 premieres this Sept. 21 on CBS.
