'NCIS: New Orleans' Spoilers News: Episode 16 Recap 'My Brother's Keeper'

Last Tuesday on "NCIS: New Orleans," a Navy recruiter is killed when she becomes the target of a deadly hit and run. The investigator focuses on whether the murder was is linked to her career or her role as a foster mother to two brothers.

"My Brother's Keeper" starts with a woman in a dark parking lot. A car appears and runs her down before speeding off and leaving the woman, who appears to be dead.

Christopher gets a phone call and heads to the parking lot, where he finds out that the victim, Maggie Barringer, has done three tours in Iraq and is now working as a Navy recruiter. The absence of skid marks on the road suggests that whoever hit Maggie had no intention of trying to stop, and it's very likely that she was hit on purpose with the intention to kill.

Merri and Chris head over to Maggie's house where they find Maggie's foster children, brothers Danny and CJ. A social worker comes and says that the younger brother, CJ, is going to another foster home while Danny is going to a group home. Pride asks him to have a little compassion and not to split them up, but the social worker is adamant and takes CJ with him.

Upon investigation, Chris learns that Maggie was planning to go after the private foster care agency that placed Danny and CJ in her home. Apparently, the agency, CFP, was not paying any money from the state to support the children and that Maggie has been supporting the brothers out of her own pocket. Chris and Pride head to the office of the man who runs the agency to confront him, and when they get there, the man is the same social worker who turned up at Maggie's house to get CJ.

Chris and Pride confront St. Croix, and he tells them that he didn't kill Maggie. Then he tells Pride to tell his wife that he got in over his head before jumping through his office window.

Later, the team learns that the car that hit Maggie is owned by a drug dealer named Bull. They also learn that Danny has been selling drugs. The team arrests Danny and they demand to know where Bull is. Danny confesses that Bull is his and CJ's real father. Danny says that he was just dealing drugs so that he could give Maggie some money to help her out. He also tells them that Bull is putting CJ on a bus, and that Bull gave CJ a backpack filled with PCP.

Pride arrests Bull, and it is revealed that Bull killed Maggie because she was trying to have him sign over parental rights so she could adopt the boys. He didn't want to lose them, as they are extremely useful in his drug selling schemes.

"NCIS: New Orleans" airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
