'NCIS' News, Update: Season 13 Promo Video Reveals Gibbs Is In A Bad Shape

CBS recently released the promo video for the upcoming 13th season of its hit crime-fighting drama TV series "NCIS" and it left fans wondering if Gibbs (Mark Harmon) really made it from the gun shot he incurred in last season's finale.

Executive producer Gary Glasberg told TV Line that the new installment will open with Gibbs being flown and rushed to a Navy ship where he could get some immediate medical attention.

"We pick up right where we left off," Glasberg said (via TV Line). "He's rushed into surgery on an aircraft carrier, where we hook him up with the surgeon on the ship played by Jon Cryer (Two and a Half Men)."

The video briefly showed some of the scenes in Season 12 finale where Gibbs was shot by one of The Calling's young recruits.

The following shots meanwhile find the Special Agent being led "into the light." Could this mean that this is really the end for Harmon's beloved character?

But hope isn't at all lost. Cast member Michael Weatherly hinted, during an earlier interview with the media outlet that the NCIS team leader is really coming back.

"I don't think anyone thought that was going to be Cliffhanger of the Year, because obviously he's coming back," the actor who plays DiNozzo told TV Line "It's more about how he comes back, how that impacts the team, and what the ramifications are."

Brian Dietzen, who plays the part of Jimmy Palmer, meanwhile said that Gibbs life is "really in the hands" of Cryer's Dr. Taft.

"He's going to be doing his darndest to save Gibbs' life!" he said (via TV Line).

Weatherly went on to tease the impact of the Gibbs life-and-death crisis into the whole NCIS team come Season 13.

"I think what we're going to have this year, is a fundamental shift in the show — and that's a fascinating thing to see," he went on to say (via TV Line). "I don't want to give away too much, but I think the audience will respond with great interest to some of the tonal changes."

Find out more of these intense developments when "NCIS" Season 13 premieres September 22 on CBS.
