'NCIS' Season 12 Premiere Date, Spoilers: Diane Neal Back as Abigail Borin, Gibbs and McGee in Trouble in Russia

CBS' hit police procedural drama TV series "NCIS" will be back with its brand new season this coming Sept. 23, 2014. CBS revealed some information on what fans could expect for the upcoming season of the much-awaited show.

In the latest preview for Season's 12 premiere episode entitled "Twenty Clicks," a new mission was explained.

"Gibbs [Leroy Jethro Gibbs played by Mark Harmon] and McGee [Timothy McGee played by Sean Murray] travel to Russia to safely escort home an NCIS computer engineer connected to classified intel, but their mission is compromised and they are forced to go off the grid while hunted by a Russian mercenary group," the synopsis read.

"Meanwhile, the team in D.C. frantically uses every asset and inter-agency contact they have in an attempt to locate their missing team members," it added.

Meanwhile, latest casting rumors indicated the return of Diane Neal, who has appeared as Special agent Abigail Borin on a recurring basis since season seven.

The Coast Guard Investigative agent is one of the most notable NCIS guest stars as she was seen to have shared a lot of similar traits with the lead protagonist Gibbs.

She last appeared in season 11 for the episode entitled "Oil and Water."

Pauley Perette, who plays the role of a forensics specialist Abigail "Abby" Sciuto, first revealed the news when she took to her social media to share a picture of her and Neal smiling on the set. She captioned the photo on her Twitter with:

"LOOK WHO'S ON #NCIS SET!!! @DianeNeal It's Abby and Abby!!! Yay! Love!" she captioned the photo.

Further casting news also points out Leslie Hope's reprisal for her role as SecNav Sarah Porter in a forthcoming episode "Choke Hold" which is slated to air on the middle part of October.
