'NCIS' Season 12 Premiere Date, Spoilers: September 23, 2014 Release Will See New Love Interest for DiNozzo?

The American television drama Naval Criminal Investigation Service or "NCIS" for short, will premiere their twelfth season on Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. EST.

Most of the cast members will be returning to season 12 but there will be some new additions along the way. One such addition will be Anthony DiNozzo's new partner Leia Pendergrast, who will be portrayed by Stephanie Jacobsen.

Jacobsen's character won't be making her appearance until an episode that will air on October. Her character will be an FBI Special Agent who will be partnered with DiNozzo played by Michael Weatherly. Pendergrast is described as "sexy and single," quite flirtatious and with a sense for adventure.

Pendergrast will most likely become DiNozzo's love interest in the show since she matches DiNozzo's traits to some extent. NCIS boss Gary Glasberg told TVLine about the Pendergrast's potential as DiNozzo's love interest.

"It's time for Tony to continue to grow a little bit. He went through a lot last year emotionally and tried to deal with Ziva's departure as he could. And it's time for someone new. We'll be mature about it and handle it properly, and Michael's excited about it," Glasberg said in his statement.

The television show follows a team of NCIS Major Case Response Team special agents of the Washington D.C. field office. The NCIS team investigates any and all major criminal offenses and crimes that are punishable under the Uniform Code of Military Justice within the Department of the Navy.

The MCRT response team is frequently assigned to any high-profile cases that mostly involve the Navy such as the killing of the U.S. President's military aide, a bombing of a U.S. Navy warship and much more.
