'NCIS' Season 14 Spoilers: New Characters Bring New Energy to Series; Wilmer Valderrama Hints of Complications, Love Triangles, and Pregnancy

Cast changes make things more interesting for NCIS after 13 years

"NCIS" Season 14 will boast of three outstanding new recruits when it returns to the small screen following the departure of Michael Weatherly, who played the beloved character Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo. That left Special Agent Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) to deal with the task of rebuilding his team in the long running CBS police procedural drama series.

Gibbs draws Quinn back into the action

After Gibbs assessed and rejected six candidates she sent as DiNozzo's replacement, Special Agent Alex Quinn (Jennifer Esposito) comes in and she herself becomes the newest recruit of the team.

Quinn will be returning to the field after being an NCIS training instructor for several years. According to "NCIS" Season 14 spoilers, something happened in Quinn's life that led her to teaching. Esposito said in an interview that it was Gibbs who drew Quinn back into field action.

Undercover agent

The first investigation when Quinn joins Gibbs' team will lead them to the other new recruit, Special Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama). He has just emerged after being lost during a six month assignment in Argentina. Agent Torres has been an undercover agent for eight years. He has already faced many conflicts between his career and personal life.

According to Valderrama, his character and Quinn have already met previously. He said that Quinn trained him and it's possible that they even have a past together.

Promoted to series regular

Duane Henry is not exactly a new addition to the cast since he did a recurring role as MI6 Officer Clayton Reeves. Ahead of "NCIS" Season 14, he was promoted to series regular.

Henry's Reeves is a Brit who rose from his blue collar background to become a successful government agent. He is offbeat with a lot of swagger combined with an impressive professional confidence. Agent Reeves will be appearing a bit later in "NCIS" Season 14 unlike Torres and Quinn who will be introduced in the premiere.

Although sad with Weatherly's departure, show runner Gary Glasberg shared his excitement at being able to inject a different energy after 13 years. He said that changes in cast members has made things more interesting for the series after a long time.

Happy news

Tim McGee (Sean Murray) has some exciting changes to go through, both in his career and love life. He will be promoted to senior field agent, filling in for DiNozzo. McGee will finally propose to Delilah Fielding (Margo Harshman). They will get married before the "NCIS" Season 14 finale.

Valderrama might have been on point when he described the upcoming season of "NCIS" as, "Complicated. Unpredictable. Pregnant. Love Triangles." Glasberg seems to echo this and promises that fans are going to go a little crazy because of things being rearranged a bit.

"NCIS" season 14 will premiere on September 20, Tuesday, on CBS.
