New Apple 'TV' App Debuts for Australian and Canadian Users Ahead of iOS 11 & tvOS 11 Release

Apple has started rolling out its TV app in Canada and Australia.

Last week, SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue announced that Australia and Canada would get access to the TV app in September. At the time, he did not reveal a specific timeline for its launch. Now that the app has been showing up in those countries, it's safe to assume that the company is gearing up for an official debut alongside the tvOS 11 and iOS 11.

Macrumors confirmed that the TV app has already begun showing up for iOS devices in Canada and Australia. Unfortunately, the app is not yet available for all iOS users in those countries. The TV app works by letting users play films and TV programs with just one click.

Picking up a show while switching to different devices is made easy since the app syncs content across iOS devices. To help users find more new TV shows and movies to watch, Apple offers content recommendations as well.

It's worth noting that the new app is still not running perfectly for everyone. Based on multiple social media posts from some users, several issues can be encountered when trying the app for the first time. Most have been complaining about being stuck while loading it.

"The Apple TV app has appeared for Australian Apple TV 4th gen. users overnight. It's stuck loading at the moment," user Anthony Eales tweeted.

There is a possibility that Apple merely launched the app early in preparation for the streaming device's operating system (OS) update. This means the app will likely function again once the tvOS 11 is officially out.

As promised at the iPhone event last week, Apple is expanding availability of the new app to seven countries by the end of this year: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway and the United Kingdom.
