New "Maze Runner" film production suspended indefinitely with injury to lead star
Production of the new Maze Runner film has been halted indefinitely after Dylan O'Brien, who plays the lead role, suffered an injury on set, which reportedly will require him to rest in order to fully recover. The injury was reportedly obtained while shooting a scene back in March.
American film studio 20th Century Fox released a statement, saying that principal photography for the Maze Runner: The Death Cure is suspended but will be resumed the soonest possible time. The sci-fi film franchise features a dystopian theme and is based on the series of novels from James Dashner. The new installment is apparently the last of the franchise.
Although the statement confirmed the delay in production, it does not say whether or not the planned release in February of next year will push through.

The 24-year old American actor rose to prominence after playing "Stiles" Stilinski in the TV series, "Teen Wolf." But he reached stardom after getting the lead role for the Maze Runner film adaptation. He played as main protagonist in the first film and the sequel, The Scorch Trials.
O'Brien's publisher talked to the Hollywood Reporter and said that the injuries he suffered were pretty serious and that more time for recovery is needed. The injury reportedly includes facial fracture, some lacerations, and a mild concussion. It happened when he pulled off a vehicle that was still moving.
The original plan was to resume production by May 9, but because that date is only a few days away, the studio decided to make another delay because O'Brien isn't well enough to resume filming.
The Death Cure is highly anticipated to make another successful run at the box office, especially after the accomplishment of the first two installments. The Maze Runner franchise has made a considerable number of fans with its dystopian theme and endless action sequences.
