Between the Grizzlies and Pelicans at the moment are the Mavericks and the struggling Houston Rockets at 7-11 in a surprising struggle in the division that usually houses the strongest teams in the league.
The Pelicans started their first 12 games at 1-11. Anthony Davis performed great but lacked the back-up he needed to get the wins.
New Orleans got their act together and won three straight games to improve their tally, but have again fallen into the losing side of things as they have dropped their last two games.
Getting a win over the Grizzlies should help take things back on track, while also closing the gap between them as they are rivals in the division.
Davis needs more help from his teammates and can only get it if they decide to play well despite troubles in the offensive end.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies recently bounced back from a loss against the Atlanta Hawks by beating the hapless Philadelphia 76ers.
Surprisingly, the Grizzlies do not look as potent as they did in the past seasons but they still have a lot of talent that can certainly carry the club when needed.
A win against New Orleans will be a big feather on their cap as they try to surge towards the top teams in the division.
