Spider-Man Movie News: Miles Morales Could Replace Peter Parker as the Web-Slinger

Recent casting rumors indicate that the newest Spider-Man reboot, which will now be finally featured within the Marvel, might reveal another face behind the web-slinger's mask.

A report from Screen Rant indicated that the latest big-screen reboot of the superhero will shake things up in a major way as it will now have the Ultimate Marvel character Miles Morales to don the red-and-blue suit instead of the already known Peter Parker.

Although it was explicitly noted in the Sony/Marvel partnership that the latter is the one who will join the MCU, Jeff Sneider of The Wrap stated in his Meet the Movie Press podcast that it might not be the case anymore.

"This is not set in stone, guys, but I'm telling you right now: Spider-Man's not going to be white," Sneider told Screen Rant.

"I'm 95 percent sure. Spider-Man's going to be most likely black. But there's a chance he could also be latino. 95 percent sure: not white," Sneider declared. "I don't think it's going to be Peter Parker."

Earlier casting rumors have pointed out that both studios were rooting for white actors like "Teen Wolf" star Dylan O'Brein and "Percy Jackson" actor Logan Lerman. But in this case, they may be out of luck.

"White actors are still going out for Spider-Man but their reps are telling me they think Sony is leaning 'ethnic,'" Sneider tweeted on Tuesday.

"Never said Spider-Man would be Miles Morales, said I was 95 percent sure Spidey WON'T be white & while they COULD do a Black PP, MM's a possibility," he went on to clarify on his social media.

Whoever will take on the role, it will soon be revealed when "Captain America: Civil War" begins filming.
