New 'Spider-Man' Reboot Film News, Update: Title to Be Called 'The New Avenger'?

It was a dream come true for a lot of comic book fans when Marvel Studios and Sony announced that they are now reuniting Spider-Man with his colleagues in the Avengers in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It was further detailed out that the new Spider-Man will be making his debut in the MCU as a teenage hi-school Peter Parker. After his slated involvement in next year's "Captain America: Civil War," the web-slinger will then have his own standalone movie, which is expected to arrive in theaters by 2017.

The said film has been a topic for many weeks already. Previous rumors said that the new reboot film will take on the title, "The Spectacular Spider-Man."

However, as what recent reports indicated, this might not be the case.

A report from Cinema Blend stated that the forthcoming film will have a working title called "Spider-Man: The New Avenger."

The said information was apparently perpetrated by popular movie reporter and scoopster Umberto Gonzalez, who recently took to his social media to post an animated picture of the superhero with the caption that reads:

"#UNCONFIRMED #RUMOR Take with the tiniest grain of salt pending further confirmation. I'm being told the working title for the untitled SPIDER-MAN stand alone film is SPIDER-MAN:THE NEW AVENGER Again, it's Sunday so take with grain pending further confirmation. What do you think of title?"

Chris Agar from Screen Rant was quick to comment on the story saying that having the "Avenger" attached to the working title could be a "smart move from a business viewpoint."

"It instantly creates brand association with the super-popular Avengers franchise and lets the uninitiated immediately know that this version of Peter Parker will be able to play with Tony Stark and Steve Rogers," the site wrote.

The TV and movie review site however pointed out that this information should be taken with a grain of salt "until Marvel comes out" and officially confirms it.

For the meantime, "Captain America: Civil War" is slated to hit the cinemas May 6, 2016 while the purported New Spider-Man Reboot film will be on July 28, 2017.
