New York City Schools Closed Tomorrow? Updates for Metro, Subway, Long Island Rail Road & Metro-North

New York City schools will be closed on Tuesday March 14 due to Winter Storm Stella. The snow storm is expected to drop up to two feet of snow on New York City from Monday night to Tuesday afternoon and will be the largest blizzard of the year so far.

As well as all New York City public schools being closed, all the city's after-school programs, adult education, YABC programs as well as PSAL activities are also cancelled on Tuesday due to the snow storm.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has also declared a state of emergency for the city effective at midnight Monday night.

He has said, "We're going to be hit with a tremendous challenge in the coming hours."

De Blasio has said they expect the worst conditions to be in the early morning hours, with heavy snow expected from midnight, but the largest accumulations of snow being laid from around 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. ET and for many hours thereafter.

City experts have warned residents that as much as 16 to 24 inches of snow could be dumped on the city by Winter Storm Stella.

All above-ground Metropolitan Transportation Authority subway service will be shut down beginning at 4 a.m. Tuesday, where as trains underground are still scheduled to run. A decision has yet to be made for the Long Island Rail Road and the Metro-North Railroad as of Monday evening.

As well as all the city's public schools being closed, below is a list of all the other schools across the city that have announced closures for Tuesday ahead of the storm, according to media sources:
