New York Giants vs Dallas Cowboys is the Sunday Night Football game in Week 1 of the NFL 2013 regular season, with these fierce old rivals clashing to try and get the best possible start to the new season. The game will start at 8.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).
It's a daunting task to travel to Dallas to open up the season, however, for the Giants they should enter the game confident that they can claim something from the game – they are yet to lose at the Cowboy's state of the art AT&T Stadium. They will be looking to extend that amazing record today and get their season off to the perfect start.
Eli Manning and Tony Romo will come face to face as two of the best NFL quarterbacks around this season. Many believe they are both reliable and steady figures in their teams and could well cancel one another out.
These two teams have a lot of questions to answer coming into this season – they are both perennial playoff contenders, but both come into this year on the back of bitterly disappointing seasons last year where they both missed out on the postseason.
These two teams are two of the most difficult to come up against in the NFL – they have talent and experience across the field, however, they have both struggled for consistency and they will need to address that if both are to fix things for this season.
For the Giants they will be hoping to have fixed up their pass defense since last year, where they ranked a lowly 28th in the league. The average of 8.1 yards per pass allowed tied the worst in the NFL. If they can just tighten things up there then they will find the season much easier. They managed to finish third in the NFL last season with 21 interceptions, so if they can stop opposition teams on the pass more consistency they could make massive progress this year.
Tony Romo will know the Giants were weak in the air on defense last year and he no doubt will come out tonight to test just how much they've addressed that concern. A big game for the Cowboys' quarterback against the Giants secondary could prove decisive, and if he succeeds one has to wonder whether Romo would be providing the blueprint for all teams taking on the Giants this season.
