New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks and Timberwolves Discuss Potential Derrick Rose Trade

New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose may not be the same player he was before all the injuries, but he is still getting a lot of attention on the trade market.

According to ESPN's Ian Begley, the Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the teams interested in acquiring Rose and they have discussed potential trades for the 2010–11 league most valuable player (MVP) with the Knicks.

Begley said it's not clear who the Wolves would offer in exchange for Rose, but he noted that sources have mentioned that the team wants to trade Ricky Rubio since they're convinced that Kris Dunn is their point guard of the future. Wolves president/coach Tom Thibodeau also coached Rose before during his time with the Chicago Bulls, so a reunion between the two can happen if they can agree on a deal.

Meanwhile, Dan Feldman of NBC Sports pointed out that the trade does not make much sense for the Wolves since they could just sign him in the offseason if they want and he doesn't think that the Wolves should pull the trigger on a trade. Rose is on the final year of his contract.

"I can't imagine a market especially eager to acquire Rose, who will become a free agent next summer. His $21,323,252 salary is difficult to match in trades without sending out too valuable of players. Rose has become a good downhill driver, but the rest of his game is lacking after years of injuries," Feldman said on his report about the potential trade.

It's clear that the Knicks are getting ready to shake things up since their current roster struggled to win games this season. The lineup of Rose, Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and Joakim Noah looks good on paper, but they are not getting the results they wanted. Anthony has been hogging the headlines for the past few weeks, but it's time for Rose to get his fair share of limelight.
