New York Knicks Trade Rumors 2016: Jose Calderon Already Immune to Trade Talks

The New York Knicks are currently in the process of a successful rebuilding project. The team will be relying on Carmelo Anthony as the franchise's superstar to which every other player in the roster should adjust to. And with the arrival of an interesting newcomer in the person of Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks are well on their way to becoming relevant once again.

But one thing this team does not have is a flashy and dominant point guard who can win games for them. As one looks at every title contending team in the league, the point guard is running the show. Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Kyrie Irving… the list could go on.

How about the Knicks? There's Jose Calderon.

In all his years in the NBA, the Spanish point guard has practically seen and heard everything. And he's no longer the young kid from another country who gets hurt when his team talks with other teams behind his back for possible trade options.

New York is trying to become a respectable team that can win against any contender in any given night and trading for a younger point guard who can do more is on top of their shopping list. And if that's the case, the suggestion is Calderon may once again be on his way out, with rumors swirling about his team pitching for a trade to get Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague.

Asked about his fate and the Feb.18 trade deadline, he's playing it cool, and he looks genuinely unconcerned about the rumors. "We'll talk in the next few weeks," he said. "It is what it is, I'm used to it," he added, talking about how he deals with all those talk.

Credit to the veteran Calderon, he knows that every player in the league is just one call away from facing change. It's called business and every team in the league is in the business of winning. He has played 11 seasons in the league and more in international competitions. So he's really not the type of player who gets affected by rumors, even if they were true.
