New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers takes place in the NBA Playoffs Round 2 Game 1 on Sunday afternoon, as the Knicks enter the second round of the postseason for the first time in 13 years. The game is scheduled to tip off at 3.30 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
During the regular season these two teams split the series 2-2, although the Pacers did demolish the Knicks by a massive 34 points in just February. However, this Game 1 match up takes place at Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks won their two regular season games against the Pacers this season.
The Knicks will be hoping to maintain that home run against Indiana and take a control of the series from the beginning.
Some critics have claimed that it is actually to the Knicks' favor to have lost two games to the Celtics in the last round. That theory goes that if the Knicks had swept the series 4-0 they would have had a long time out of playing and not been hot and on the ball for the second round.
They ended up losing two games to the Celtics before completing their series victory, and they have had a reasonable break coming into this game.
They will want to hit the series at high tempo and take a commanding lead so that when they go to Indiana they will have their opponent's backs to the wall and have all the pressure on them.
The Pacers are strong defensively though and will be tough to break down. However, they do lack a pure out and out scorer in their roster. Paul George has done well sporadically and David West certainly has talent, but both have lacked the consistency to be considered as potentially threatening as Carmelo Anthony.
