Award-winning Christian band newsboys will kick off their "Join The Tribe" tour on Friday and among the groups that will be joining them as they trek across the country is Christian rock band DecembeRadio.

“The Join the Tribe tour is going to be a blast,” exclaimed Josh Reedy, lead singer and bass player for DecembeRadio. “It's really cool for us to be a part of a tour with a band that we grew up watching. I know it will be a night of great music, energy and ministry.”

Kicking off Friday in Fredrick, Md., the tour will introduce fans to new music from newsboys' upcoming fifteenth studio release, which hits stores May 5, including the album’s title track and debut single "In The Hands Of God.”

DecembeRadio, meanwhile, is expected to perform songs from their current release, Satisfied, which was named among the “Best of the Best in 2008” by the staff and senior music editors from the Gospel Music Channel and was also selected by CCM Magazine's editors to be among the “Top 10 Critics Picks” for 2008.

Aside from its showcase of new and popular music, the “Join The Tribe” tour will also support the faith-based ministry Global Tribe (www.globaltribe.com) in its quest to fight physical and spiritual poverty.

The tour will also mark the return of long-time guitarist Jody Davis, who will return after a five-year hiatus to replace outgoing guitarist Paul Coleman.

"I am thrilled to be returning to the band and back with my bandmates, who are some of my best friends," said Davis, who was a member of the band from 1993 to 2003. "This is a big change in my life, and I’m looking forward to the tour and new record with excitement."

Coleman, who played guitar with newsboys the last three years, broke cordially from the group last year to further his solo career and to perform in shows nationwide this year.

“My three years with newsboys were among the best of my life,” he stated. “I learned an immeasurable amount about music, ministry, and life, and am happy to say I left with all our friendships wonderfully intact.

“I always was and always will be one of newsboys' biggest fans,” he added. “I am very excited about the return of Jody Davis!”

The “Join The Tribe” tour will make over 35 stops across the United States and Canada from Friday until May 1. Other groups expected to join the newsboys on the tour include VOTA and Bread of Stone.
