Nexus 6 vs Nexus 5: When Size Comes Into Play

This month, Google's Nexus 6 has finally been revealed and it appears to be way different from its predecessor, the Nexus 5. Manufactured under Motorola production line, the new device was expected to arrive with a different look than the LG-Nexus 5.

Now Android fans might be wondering will it be worth to trade in their Nexus 5 to the upcoming smartphone, which is scheduled to hit the shelves this Nov. 12? Here's a comparison of the two devices.

As stated beforehand, the new Google Nexus was shown to have a bigger design. With a staggering 5.96-inch display dimension, the Nexus 6 is being considered by some to have already entered the category of phablets.

On the other hand, the 2013 Nexus 5 only had a 4.96-inch screen.

Performance

The Nexus 6 bigger size also resonates with a stronger performance capacity. It is reported to have a quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor which can clock at 2.7GHz with Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

The older Nexus is also a force to reckon with. It has quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor clocking at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Storage and Memory

For their latest device, Google opted not to include a micro-SD option. However, its capacity is vastly improved as it can be bought with 64GB worth of memory.

The Nexus 5, with micro-SD slot, has 32GB.

Camera

When speaking about cameras, the Nexus 6 saw a huge leap from the mediocre picture-taking quality of the last Nexus. It is reported to have a 13-megapixels, Dual LED camera with 2MP front-facing snapper versus the 8MP primary and 1.3MP secondary camera of the other.

Battery Life and Capacity

Having recognized the rather weak battery life of Nexus 5, Google upgraded the Nexus 6 with a 3,220 mAh battery that is said to be capable of 330 hours of standby time and 24 hours straight talk time.

The Nexus 5 on the other hand has 2300 mAh capacity, enough to offer 17 hours of talk time and 12.5 days of standby time.

Price Ranges

Needless to mention, Nexus 5 sells at a very affordable price of $350. Double that to the reported price tag of the Nexus 6 of $650 - $680.
