Nexus 6P release date latest: Pre-orders to begin September 29 in selected countries

The Huawei Nexus 6P is due to be unveiled in a Google event on Tuesday, and pre-orders for the new smartphone will also begin on the same day.

In an unexpected move, Google will make the Huawei Nexus 6P available for pre-order on the same day that the new smartphone will be unveiled. On Sept. 29, Nexus fans in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, and Japan can begin pre-ordering the new Google smartphone, according to Android Police.

On Tuesday, customers can begin shelling out at least $499 to pre-order any of the three variants of the Nexus 6P — the 32 GB, 64 GB, or 128 GB version. In Japan, the latest Google phone will be available in gold color. The rest will have to choose from the aluminum, frost, and graphite shades, the report details.

Unlike most of its bigger rivals, Google was unable to keep its newest product under a cloak of secrecy. Two days ago, specs of the Nexus 6P were leaked, including its 5.7-inch WQHD screen, 3,450 mAh battery, 3 GB of RAM, Snapdragon 810 chip, camera, and dual front-facing speakers, BGR reports.

This is the first time that Google tapped Huawei to manufacture a Nexus device. The Nexus 6P is expected to be a high-end device. Aside from the aforementioned features, the unit will also sport a metal unibody design to make it look "slim and sophisticated," the report details.

The Nexus 6P will be unveiled alongside the LG Nexus 5X model and the new Chromecast Audio device, the report adds.

The Nexus 5X's other specs and features include a 5.2-inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip, 2G of RAM with 16 GB or 32 GB or internal storage, 12-megapixel rear snapper and 5-megapixel front camera, 2,700 mAh battery, fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, and dual front speakers, the report relays.

Those who cannot quite afford the Nexus 6P can opt to buy the Nexus 5X, which runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow mobile operating system. It has sub-flagship specs that were chosen specifically to appeal to Nexus fans that are not high spenders.
