Nexus 8 Tablet Spotted in Google I/O Webpage
A tablet that could be the Nexus 8 was spotted in a header image on the Google I/O webpage.
This unidentified slate that sports an Android interface in the picture has a similar appearance to the Nexus line. The image features the caption "Let's Break Stuff." This could point to the device making its debut during the conference. It could also be a new version of the Nexus 7.
Various rumors have stated that Google and HTC are currently working on a Nexus 8 model that will replace the Nexus 10 and Nexus 7.

A fairly recent Digitimes report said that Google will release a slate with an 8-inch display instead of the rumored 8.9-inch iPad mini competitor. HTC will create this tablet that will be known officially as the Nexus 8.
The publication also claims that Google will be "less aggressive" with its tablet strategy for this new Nexus model. The company reportedly feels that it has already accomplished its goal of boosting Android's tablet market penetration and could use Google Play Editions to grow its market share instead of the Nexus line.
The report calls the Nexus 8 a third-generation model which means that it might not only replace the Nexus 10, but will also replace the Nexus 7. If this new model is unsuccessful, Google might end the Nexus line altogether.
This Nexus 8 will be a direct competitor for the current iPad mini model with retina, so it will most likely feature impressive specs that rival the Apple device. The Nexus 10 successor's existence seems to be up in the air as nothing has been said about it by Google thus far. Some rumors support it, while others say that there will not be another.
