'NieR: Automata' Release Date, News: YoRHa 2B Shows How She Uses Weapons in Latest Trailer

Platinum Games and Square Enix are about to bring players to a dystopian world where machine lifeforms rule the world with "NieR: Automata." As such, YoRHa 2B and the other androids are tasked to reclaim Earth for the humans, and she does it with so much elegance while using various weapons at her disposal.

In the latest trailer, 2B is seen displaying her skills in using four main types of weapons —short swords, great swords, spears and great swords. Her trusty pod, a mechanical pod that hovers with her, can also be used to dish pain through long-range bullets and can even morph into more damaging forms.

If there is anything that's noteworthy, it is that the animation and controls appear to be seamless, understandable yet complex at the same time. With different combinations, a player can customize the way she attacks enemies that are even larger than her.

Another point that's worth giving props is how she gracefully evades and delivers a swift counterattack after. In the game's free demo, she can only show her dodging skills by simply rolling away, but the teaser shows she can create multiple illusory copies of herself and retaliate in the coolest way possible. If anything, the title "Arsenal of Elegant Destruction" fits her perfectly, given how she moves against her foes.

It is important to note, however, that the game is not a mere hack-and-slash title. It can be recalled in the previous cinematic teaser that despite Androids being prohibited to show any trace of emotion, it doesn't mean that they don't feel anything. 2B and 9S were seen caring deeply for one another, thus the conflict not only lies against the machine lifeforms, but there is also an internal battle in each of them.

"NieR: Automata" arrives on March 7, 2017.
