'Nintendo Switch' Games Latest News: More Games Added to Launch Lineup

The Nintendo Switch is only a few days away from launching. Before the hybrid console's official arrival, Nintendo recently announced that more games have been added to its launch lineup.

Nintendo confirmed two more Nintendo Switch launch titles, the indie video game titles "Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove" and "Fast RMX." These will be available on March 3 when the console is released.

"Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove" is developed by Yacht Club Games, and is a retro-inspired side-scrolling video game where players use a shovel to attack their enemies. The video game includes the original "Shovel Knight" and all its downloadable content (DLC), even the game's "Specter of Torment" expansion. However, the indie title will be a Nintendo Switch-exclusive only for a limited time.

"Fast RMX," on the other hand, is a futuristic anti-gravity racing game created by Shin-en Multimedia. The video game is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. It features a local spilt-screen and an online multiplayer.

The two indie games will be joining the ranks of other launch titles confirmed for the upcoming Nintendo Switch, which include "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," "1-2-Switch," "Snipperclips – Cut it out, together!," "Just Dance 2017," "Skylanders Imaginators," and more.

In total, there will be more than 60 indie games appearing on the Nintendo Switch eShop for 2017, according to Nintendo. However, this figure does not count digital versions of retail games and DLC.

Nintendo also announced recently that it will hold a video presentation next week in celebration of independent game titles. Called "Nindies Showcase," the event will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 12 p.m. EST and will be streamed live. The event will reportedly focus on the state of downloadable indie games in the market, and will also shed some light on the games that will be available for the Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch hybrid console is scheduled to launch on Friday, March 3.
