Nintendo World Championships 2015 News: Details of Qualifiers Revealed

In the run-up to the return of the Nintendo World Championships at the E3 2015, Nintendo has announced how interested gamers can qualify for the Championship event on June 14. As earlier reported, qualifying rounds will be conducted in selected Best Buy stores all over the United States on May 30.

In a report in Polygon, Nintendo shared the details of when and how interested gamers can qualify. Interested contestants need to head down to the nearest Best Buy store on May 30. Registration will start at 9 a.m. local time, and the competition will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. A Best Buy representative advised those who want to join to come early as they will only accommodate up to 750 registrants per store, on a first-come first-served basis.

There will be a total of eight Best Buy stores participating in the qualifying round. The list of stores are as follows:

According to the report, players will be competing using the Championship mode of the "Ultimate NES Remix" on the Nintendo 3DS console. They will compete for high scores in challenges in "Super Mario Bros.," "Super Mario Bros. 3," and "Dr. Mario."

Winners from each of the eight qualifying rounds will join the final Championship event on June 14 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles. They will join eight other competitors who have been selected by Nintendo. Unlike the qualifying round, the championship event will have multiple rounds with "a variety of Nintendo games" that have not been revealed by Nintendo yet.

Those who wish to practice before the qualifying round may purchase the "Ultimate NES Remix."
