No Man's Sky Release Date, News: Hello Games Offers Hints on What to Expect

Touted as one of the biggest games yet to be released in terms of its scale, Hello Games' upcoming open-world video game "No Man's Sky" is expected to hit sometime this year.

However, amidst the anticipation and excitement from avid gamers, there are still some questions hanging around regarding the enormity of the game's universe and the things that players "actually do" in NMS.

Speaking with Eurogamer's Dan Silver, Hello Games' Sean Murray informs the gaming website about the title's main objective.

"There's the answer I want to give, and then there's the one I can't really say," Sean told Eurogamer. "So, the one I want to give is to say it's open ended, and players should be able to play a game lots of different ways."

The head of the Guildford, England – based game studio went on to explain with the publication.

"So there is a core game mode there. There's the player's journey which, if they play it linearly and go from the outer edge of the galaxy to the centre of the galaxy, that's their start and end of the game kind of thing," he said.

The interview, which as reported had taken place at the Venetian Hotel on December, went on to reveal more interesting details about the game.

For one, the site claimed that the game is literally big.

"If one of its procedurally generated planets was discovered every second, it would take around 584 billion years to log them all."

Another thing is that the surfaces of the planets can be altered by the player.

"You can see the terrain is destructible, which is something we haven't shown people before," Murray said.

As for activities like resource gathering, the studio made a statement that it won't be like any other game where it is "normally super boring, and people purposely make it like a chore."

"We want it to be fun. It's something we're still playing about with. It's quite fun to be able to do it from a distance," the head of the firm explained.

Hello Games' No Man's Sky is slated to launch exclusively for PC and current-gen PlayStation 4 console.
