NRB to Induct James Kennedy into Hall of Fame

The world’s largest association of Christian communicators will induct Dr. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries into its Hall of Fame next month.

The world’s largest association of Christian communicators will induct Dr. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries into its Hall of Fame next month. The National Religious Broadcasters, an international group of broadcasters with over 1,700 member organizations, announced the honor earlier this month and will present its Hall of Fame Award to Kennedy on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at its annual convention in Anaheim.

According to Dr. Frank Wright, President of National Religious Broadcasters, the Hall of Fame Award recognizes “invaluable contributions to the field of Christian communications, all the while exhibiting the highest standards of conduct and evidence of faithfulness in Christ.”

Kennedy, whose media outreach began in 1974 with radio, is currently Senior Minister of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church and President of Coral Ridge Ministries, an international Christian broadcast organization that reaches into 200 countries. More than three million people in the U.S. tune in to his radio and television programs each week, as do millions more around the world.

His programs, Truths That Transform, the NRB’s “Best Radio Teaching Program” for 2004; The Kennedy Commentary, a daily 90-second radio feature; and The Coral Ridge Hour, the NRB’s 2003 “Television Program of the Year,” bring the Gospel and apply biblical truth to every area of life and culture.

Kennedy is also founder of Evangelism Explosion, a lay witness training program through which 4.5 million people came to Christ last year.

In a statement he made earlier, Kennedy stated, “We have the greatest message the world has ever heard and much of the world has never heard it. It is our responsibility to take that message to every person in the world, that they might have eternal life.”

Since becoming pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in 1959, Kennedy has founded nine other ministries, including a radio outreach in 1974 and a television program four years later.

He is said to be the most listened-to Presbyterian minister in the world today.
