As usual, the judges on the Italian version of "The Voice" had no idea what to expect when the opening piano notes and beat of Alicia Keys' "No One" start out. Then the mystery singer's smoky, spot-on vocals chime in and they love what they hear.

When two judges spin their chairs to vote for the vocalist, they're shocked to see Sister Cristina Scuccia, clad in her traditional grab, rocking the mic. The crowd erupts, and her fellow nuns and friends go wild to see a star being born in their sister.

Originally from Sicily, the 25-year-old nun is part of the Usruline Sisters in Milan and has dreamed since childhood of being a singer. Asked why she's on "The Voice," Sister Cristina says, "I have a gift and I am giving it to you. Shouldn't things be this way?"

Not only does Cristina have the chops, but she has comedic timing, invoking Pope Francis in a joke when asked whether the Vatican approves of her competing on the show.

"I really don't know," she says. "I am waiting for Papa Francesco to call me on the phone."

"He always says we should go out and evangelize, telling God doesn't take away from us but will give us more. I am here for this."
