Monday has arrived with Nurse's Week, where registered nurses are being honored across the world during the week-long celebration.
Each year since 1994, Nurses Week has taken place from May 6 to May 12. Celebrations come to an end on the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, who was born in 1820.
The week will see celebrations of the professional caregivers with events such as National School Nurse Day and National Student Nurses Day, both of which occur on Wednesday.
Medical Solutions, a travel nurse staffing company, are among those celebrating nurses this week with several contests and other festivities.
"As one of the nation's top travel nursing companies, it is a priority for us to use this week as a way to honor and recognize the dedicated nurses who provide fantastic patient care year-round," said Medical Solutions marketing manager Jeff Long in a statement. "They work timelessly, and we want them to be able to really have some fun this week and take us up on the chance to win some great prizes."
Furthermore, the American Nurses Association offers several suggestions for celebrating nurses this week, such as holding a special reception for one or more nurses in your community for their years of quality service.
People from around the globe have joined in celebrating nurses on social media sites on Monday.
"To all of the amazing nurses, Happy Nurse's Week," wrote Twitter user John. "Share this with all of the nurses you know and let them know you appreciate them."
Megan posted the quote, "A doctor will cure you but a nurse will save your life,' Happy Nurse Week to all of the fabulous nurses of the world!"
The Peace Corps added to their Twitter account: "Happy #NursesWeek to all our volunteers (returned, present and future)! Using their nursing skills to makea difference in #globalhealth!"
Moreover, at Cinnabon, nurses can enjoy a free Cinnabon classic roll or Minibon roll when their healthcare ID badge is presented.
