Oakland Raiders vs Indianapolis Colts takes place on Sunday with the Colts looking to get off to a good start to the new NFL 2013 season and take advantage of a weak Raiders defense. The game starts at 1 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (Details below).
This Week 1 match up pits two teams against one another that are very much heading in opposite directions.
The Raiders had managed to post .500 seasons in 2010 and 2011 but last year they went downhill in a big way, finishing with a record of 4-12. Much of their downfall was down to a weak defense that repeatedly gave up big plays to opposition, and inconsistent quarterback play.
Andrew Luck and the Colts will be looking to take advantage of that weakness today. The Colts had a fantastic season last year, coming into the season as a basement team from 2011, but dramatically turning things around to finish last year 11-5.
The Raiders will know how important it is to turn things back in a positive way quickly, but going on the road against the Colts is not the ideal start to the season for them. If they lose it could make heads drop and have many fans wondering whether it is the start of another long season for them.
One area the Colts will have to improve on this year if they are to build on last season's good performance is their defense. While their offense was effective and caused all sorts of troubles for opposition teams, their own defense struggled. They finished 21st in the NFL in scoring defense, and were very susceptible to the run, allowing nearly 140 yards per game on the ground. If they do not fix that then it could seriously undermine good work done on the offense.
